McChrystal's Original and Genuine snuff is described as a famous blend of tobacco and menthol oils whose recipe is a closely-guarded secret, known only to handful of people in the last 80 years. McChrystal's Snuff is also billed as one of the world's top brands, selling millions of tins and growing in popularity.
I can see why this snuff is described in that manner as it is my opinion that McChrystal's O&G is without a doubt the king of mentholated snuffs. Sure, other brands have mentholated snuffs which smell similarly to McChrystal's O&G, one for instance which is quite similar is Wilson's S.M. Blue.
Comparing these 2 snuffs though is like comparing Coke to Pepsi. Coke has that secret something that Pepsi-Cola just does not have. Much the same in that McChrystal's O&G just seems to have that something extra that makes it, in my opinion, the perfect mentholated snuff.
The snuff itself is brown in color and is extremely fluffy and light. I find it to be the perfect texture for snuff. Easily pinch-able and just as easy to take.
Upon taking a taste of the McChrystal's O&G, you will immediately have the feeling of refreshment which goes along with most mentholated snuffs. Once again, though , there just seems to be that something a little bit extra to the flavor that sets it apart from the others leaving a very nice taste which lasts quite some time even after the initial cooling of the nasal passages is generated from the menthol. In fact even after you blow your nose it seems the flavor gets a bit of a re-birth as if you had just taken another pinch.
McChrytal's O&G comes in a nicely decorated tin which is wrapped in cellophane. I believe it comes in 4 different sizes ranging from 3.75 grams to 25 grams in size.
Once again when rating snuffs you have to take into account what type of snuff you are rating. As far as menthols go I would rate McChrystal's O&G a 10, by far my favorite mentholated snuff. If you do not care for menthols I would still recommend you give McChrystal's O&G a try, if you do not like it, you can at least put your mind to rest that mentholated snuffs are not for you. You will have tried the best mentholated snuffs has to offer.
